Paid Truck Driving Schools
When you have made the decision to go to truck driving school you need to realize that you are going to pay for it one way or another. When I started out I went to a company truck driving school that told me they would pay for my CDL training and give me a job when I was done.
This sounded like a great deal to me so I signed up and went to their “Paid Truck Driving School”. Looking back now I could not recommend this type of truck driving school to anyone for several reasons. The first reason is that there is no guarantee that you will even make it through the trucking school. These company paid truck driving schools are looking for the best drivers and weed out anyone that is not keeping up with their fast paced training.
Should you not make the grade at any point in the training they will let you go and stick you with a bill for the amount of time that you were there plus interest!
The second reason is that if you do make it through their truck driving school you have to work for them for a year or more or you are responsible for the cost of their inflated truck driving school. You don’t really have a lot of options and if you are not getting treated properly which happens more times than not you are screwed.
Going to a private truck driving school can be the best option for several reasons. A private school will not weed you out because they are in business to train students. A good private truck driving school will have several companies that use them as a hiring pool so you have choices. Most trucking companies that hire from private truck driving schools offer tuition reimbursement for your CDL training anyway.
If for some reason you don’t like the company you work for you can go somewhere else and work. The Truck driving school that I recommend will even give you a phone number that you can call at any time if you would like a different job.
You need to make sure that you avoid going to a CDL Mill that makes a lot of promises and rushes you through training and out the back door with a CDL. These Truck driving schools are out there and you will find it very difficult to get a job that is worth having should you go to the wrong trucking school.
